8-inch scope

The design requirements of my 8-inch were:

  • be light enough that I could easily carry it outside in one trip.
  • only take up the space of one passenger in a car.
  • be self-contained (i.e. all eyepieces, etc. stored inside) so I couldn't forget anything.
  • all modern conveniences (e.g. tracking, DSCs, filter selector, dew heaters, etc.) included unobtrusively; but the instrument not be dependent on any of this technology.

There are a few photos of the scope below and a page with more details. I still need to take some more photos including things like the wire spider, the storage box in the bottom of the rocker and the scope dismantled for transport.
